Higgins Family

Well the big appointment was yesterday that I had been (obnoxiously) waiting for... and, it's a girl!!!
There she is... our nameless little girl. John couldn't have been more proud. When the sonogram tech told us it was a girl, his eyes welled up a little with tears. We was instantly a proud daddy and immediately (upon leaving the doctor's office) started talking about how she was going to be a daddy's girl. *Don't tell him I am saying this* We had just started the appointment and the tech was still telling us what she was going to be doing. She asked us if we wanted to know the sex and we said yes and she immediately said it was a girl. Just like ripping a band-aid off. I don't really remember exactly how I felt because I wasn't expecting to hear it, but I do remember thinking it was a surreal thing. The doctor said everything looked good, but our stubborn little one (just like mommy) wouldn't move to good viewing positions for the heart, so I have to go back in four week for another sonogram... I am not too upset about that! Hopefully we will get a better picture of her face/profile. Here is what she looks like from the outside... 20 weeks!!


After we found out, made the appropriate phone calls and sent the right texts, we decided to go spend some money. I had to get pink things to celebrate my little girl. I didn't mean to end up with only pink things, it just happened to be the way it went. John was so sweet picking things out for his little girl. He kept saying 'that's too cute, don't put it back!' Words I never thought I would hear him say. The blanket that says snuggle bug is his idea.


In an effort to figure out what our little girl's name is, John has started a new rule. We are not allowed to say she, little girl or anything along those lines. We have to refer to her as Emily, Berkley or anything else that pops into our heads. We are pretty sure that there isn't anything better than one of those two, but you never know. I have broken this rule many times in this blog... shhhh... don't tell!
